Education exports now worth £18 billion annually

The Government has confirmed that education exports are now worth around £18 billion to the UK economy annually. Matthew Hancock, the Minister for Skills and Enterprise, quoted the new figures in a speech on the UK’s International Education Strategy that he gave to the AoC International Conference last week. This estimate, based on 2012 data, represents a significant increase on the previous estimate of £14 billion and shows that demand for UK education remains strong in the face of international competition.
